Driving to Ischgl
When driving to Ischgl we strongly recommend you pay attentions to information relevant to Austrian motorways and carry necessary safety equipment you may require. Appropriate seasonal tyres and adequate winter equipment suitable for your particular vehicle is required by law in Austria, particularly in winter.
Arriving from Germany:
Travelling on the “Arlberg expressway” S16 take exit Pians continuing on the “Silvretta national highway” B 188 for approx 20 km, direction Ischgl. There are three possible routes that will take you to the S 16 in Tyrol:
- Take the German A 7 or A 95 heading south which will take you via the “Fern Pass” highway B179, passing through Imst and Landeck joining the A12 “Austrian Inntal” motorway and onto the S16 “Arlberg” expressway to Pians.
- From the German A93 direction Innsbruck take the “Austrian Inntal” motorway A12 taking you through Kufstein, Innsbruck and Landeck. Join the S16 “Arlberg” expressway taking you on to Pians.
- From the A96 direction Lindau (Austria), change onto the A14 motorway taking you via Bregenz, Feldkirch, through the Arlberg tunnel and onto the S16. Follow this onto Pians.
# Note in Summer you have the option of taking the Silvretta high alpine road to Ischgl when exiting the motorway at Bludenz. This road is closed in Winter.
Arriving from Italy:
Travelling on the “Arlberg expressway” S16 take exit Pians continuing on the “Silvretta national highway” B 188 for approx 20 km, direction Ischgl. There are two possible routes that will take you to the S 16 in Tyrol:
- Travelling north across the “Brenner Pass” on the A22 take the Austrian A13 that will join the A12 in Innsbruck. Take the A12 direction Bregenz exiting onto the S16 direction Pians.
- Entering Austria on the SS40 across the “Reschen Pass”. Take the B180 taking you via Nauders and Landeck where you join the S16 direction Pians.
Arriving from Switzerland:
Travel to Austria from the A3, direction “Feldkirch” or the A1, direction “Lustenau” and “Dornbirn” joining the A14 in Austria, direction “Innsbruck”. Continue through the “Arlberg Tunnel” joining the S16 direction Pians. Exit in Pians and continuing on the “Silvretta national highway” B 188 for approx 20 km, direction Ischgl.

Travellers Information: “By Law” you require a Toll sticker on Austrian motorways and expressways. These are available from services stations and tobacco kiosks with validity periods of 10 days, 2 months or a whole year.
